Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be assigned to one doctor in the office?

You may request to see a specific physician for your child’s well appointments. For sick appointments, you will be assigned to the doctor of your choice who has availability on that particular day. We encourage you to meet all of our doctors so that you will be familiar with everyone.

What if I have a question and the office is closed?

Even if the office is physically closed, there is always a physician on call. Please call us during office hours for non-emergency questions. If you have an urgent situation that cannot wait until normal business hours, you may reach us by dialing (713) 988-4334 and asking the service to page the doctor on call. Please see our section on phone calls for more information.

Do you vaccinate all children?

We immunize our patients as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines. For more information, please visit American Academy of Pediatrics or Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Please read our section on vaccinations for more information.

Are there separate waiting rooms?

Yes.  We have a separate waiting room for well infants.

What to do in case of a medical emergency?

If your child has a major medical emergency, please call 911 or take him/her to the nearest emergency room.  We are affiliated with Texas Children’s Hospital and Memorial Children's Hospital.

Do you take walk in appointments?

We discourage walk-in appointments. Again, if your child has a medical emergency, please take him or her to the nearest emergency room. If your child is sick and needs to be seen in the office please call to make a “sick” appointment.  Walk-ins will be given the next available time slot. Please avoid long waiting times by scheduling a sick appointment.

What happens when my child is sick?

We will see your child within 24 hours when they are ill.  Call the office, tell the receptionist your child is sick and she will have you speak with a nurse.  The nurse will help determine the best time (immediately, later today, etc) and place (our office, emergency room, urgent care clinic) for your child to be evaluated. We usually recommend urgent care clinics that specialize in children.
